Well officially for our students the year begins tomorrow, and I imagine everyone is apprehensive as to how the year will turn out especially our senior students.

So I have taken the opportunity to post some physics notes on motion to get my Physics students thinking of some of the work we will need to cover this term
Anyhow I look forward to a new year ready to engage and get right into the work.

Another school year is looming on the horizon

Well it looks like another school year is looming on the horizon. I have been experimenting as usual and I feel like testing slideshare by embedding some notes into this wordpress blog.

Here is a preliminary sample of notes to be used for Yr 12 Mathematical methods. I will probably be refining these notes but it is a good opportunity for my students to see a sample of what is to come.

Anyhow , I better get back to work and do more work.

What happens when Physics is ignored

Quite often students and others do not see the relevance of doing science based subjects, many do not feel that there is any practical value. Of course the truth is that science is everywhere in our daily lives and quite often people do not even realise they are using the principles of physics in their lives.

Of course ignoring the laws of physics can be disastrous . Enjoy looking at the pictures in the pdf that I have included below and see if you can see what has gone wrong.

It is the season of exams…

Well today was the last class for my Year 11 students and next week their exams will start. I thought it would be good to see how others in the past have answered questions. Enjoy making sense of the various graphics and remember to study and revise.

To study or not to study

It does not surprise me that quite often students fail to study. But what do we mean by study in the first place? Is it simply to revise the notes and the examples done in class or does it involve more?

Well the answer obviously is a little bit of both. First students need to understand the basic concepts and then they need to apply these basic concepts in the solution of various problems and see how the basic principles are applied.

So in recent times, particularly in Physics I have produced worksheets that briefly have the main concepts on them with a few well selected questions for students to try quickly and then hopefully when they have mastered the main ideas, they are then in a position to attempt the exercises in the text book.

Anyhow what are your thoughts?

It is Friday

I love Fridays especially when the end of the week approaches. For my students who might read this blog, it is important to use the weekend to catch up on homework assigned, but at the same time, it is a good opportunity to recharge your batteries.
